byHands illustrators for Fritt Ord

Last autumn 2015 the foundation Fritt Ord launched a writing competion, where the theme was video and computer games. The reason for the competition was the debate regarding games as a phenomenon, the cultural aspect around the theme and social criticism. Ultimately they would pick out ten of the most outstanding submitted texts and publish them as an anthology on a webpage that carries the same name as the competition, Digitale liv. The webpage was designed and developed by the skillful Oslo based design agency Heydays.

They received 180 contributions and one of the ten texts was chosen as the winner of the competition this September. All of the texts are now published on the webpage and there is an illustration connected to each of them. The illustrations are created by nine of our talented illustrators; Børge Bredenbekk, Anette Moi, Peter-John de Villiers, Hanne Berkaak, Robin Snasen Rengård, Kristian Hammerstad, Jon Arne Berg, Magnus Voll Mathiassen and Sandra Blikås. Since the theme was open for interpretation, all of the texts are different from each other. Because of that, the illustrations were customized to the story of the texts.

The composition of both the text, the illustrations and the website put together is without doubt expressive and makes the stories come alive. So take a little break and visit the website for a good read and to watch the awesome illustrations – it´ll be worth your time!
